Belgian artists at Eurosonic 2027: Meet the rising talents heading to Groningen
13–16 January 2027 in Groningen, Netherlands

Belgian music is heading to the international stage. From 13 to 16 January 2027, the Dutch city of Groningen will once again become a meeting point for Europe's emerging music scene as Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) returns for its 41st edition. Among the hundreds of artists preparing to perform are five exciting Belgian talents: uwase, Alice Mae, gala dragot, OSAYUKI and TeddyBear.
More than just another music festival, ESNS is a major opportunity for emerging musicians to connect with international audiences, festival organisers, record labels and booking agents. For the Belgian artists selected, performing in Groningen could mark an important step towards reaching new stages and listeners across Europe.
What is Eurosonic Noorderslag, and why does it matter?
Every January, Groningen transforms into one of Europe's most important destinations for music discovery. Combining a showcase festival with an international music industry conference, ESNS brings together approximately 40,000 visitors and 4,000 music professionals, including representatives from hundreds of European festivals.
Unlike traditional festivals, where audiences primarily come to see established headliners, Eurosonic focuses on discovering the artists who could become tomorrow's biggest names.
The event has built an impressive reputation over four decades. Artists such as Stromae, The Haunted Youth, Fontaines D.C., Hozier, The xx and Christine and the Queens have all performed at ESNS during their careers.
One of the festival's most valuable initiatives is the European Talent Exchange programme, which helps participating artists secure performances at international festivals. This means that a showcase in Groningen can open doors to new audiences, international tours and major festival appearances.
For emerging Belgian artists, that opportunity can be particularly significant.
Meet the Belgian artists performing at ESNS 2027
The first announcements for Eurosonic 2027 already feature five Belgian artists representing a diverse range of musical styles, from alternative rock and indie pop to experimental electronic music and genre-blending hip-hop.
uwase — A rising voice in Belgian indie pop
Belgian singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer uwase has been making a name for herself with her atmospheric approach to indie pop.
After winning Studio Brussel's De Nieuwe Lichting 2025, she gained wider recognition with her EP Angelo, establishing herself as one of the emerging voices to watch in Belgium. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Caroline Polachek and Blood Orange, uwase combines delicate melodies, sophisticated production and introspective songwriting.
Her debut album, created in collaboration with producer Jasper Segers, is scheduled for release through PIAS in March 2027.
Her appearance at Eurosonic comes at an important moment in her career, offering international exposure just ahead of this major release.
Alice Mae — Raw energy and alternative rock
Belgian singer-songwriter Alice Mae is bringing her powerful voice and alternative rock sound to Groningen. A winner of Studio Brussel's De Nieuwe Lichting 2025, she has been attracting attention for her authentic songwriting and emotionally charged performances.
Inspired by her passion for guitar-driven music, Alice Mae combines raw energy with a personal approach to songwriting, transforming her experiences and thoughts into expressive rock songs.
Her appearance at Eurosonic offers an opportunity to introduce her music to a wider European audience and establish herself among the new generation of Belgian rock artists.
gala dragot — Art-pop without boundaries
One of Belgium's most intriguing emerging pop artists, gala dragot creates music that refuses to fit neatly into one genre.
Blending electronic experimentation, classical influences, unconventional production and striking artistic concepts, her sound explores the boundaries between alternative pop and contemporary art.
Having previously collaborated with Belgian artists including Zwangere Guy and The Subs, gala dragot has developed a distinctive creative identity. Her project twerking music explores themes ranging from digital obsession and isolation to environmental anxiety and body image.
At Eurosonic 2027, she will have the opportunity to introduce her experimental vision of pop music to an international audience.
OSAYUKI — Where rock, punk and hip-hop collide
OSAYUKI is the artistic project of Belgian producer and multi-instrumentalist Osayuki Asemota, also known as Chuki Beats.
Already recognised for his production work with artists such as Zwangere Guy and DIKKE, he is now stepping into the spotlight with a project that brings together influences from rock, punk and hip-hop. His genre-fluid approach combines atmospheric melodies, powerful rhythms and modern production techniques, creating a sound that moves beyond traditional musical categories.
Eurosonic represents an exciting opportunity for OSAYUKI to introduce this new artistic direction to international music professionals and audiences.
TeddyBear — A Belgian francophone talent to discover
TeddyBear is another Belgian act selected for Eurosonic 2027, joining the festival's international showcase of emerging European talent. Their inclusion in the programme highlights the variety of artists currently emerging from Belgium's music scene and offers an opportunity to reach new listeners beyond the country's borders.
For audiences interested in discovering Belgian music before it reaches bigger international stages, TeddyBear is another name worth following as the festival approaches.
Belgium Booms: Bringing Belgian music to the world
Belgium's presence at Eurosonic goes beyond the artists performing on stage. Through Belgium Booms, Belgian music organisations VI.BE and Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques work together to promote Belgian talent internationally and strengthen connections with the European music industry. At ESNS 2027, Belgium Booms will once again organise networking opportunities bringing together Belgian artists, music professionals and international industry representatives.
These initiatives help emerging musicians connect with festival programmers, promoters, labels and other professionals who can support their careers beyond Belgium. By bringing together the country's different music communities, Belgium Booms also demonstrates the diversity and creativity of Belgium's contemporary music scene.
From Groningen to Europe's biggest festivals
For the artists taking part, Eurosonic is much more than a single performance. Through the European Talent Exchange programme, participating musicians can gain access to an extensive network of international festivals, potentially leading to additional concerts and opportunities throughout the year.
Belgian artists have already benefited from this international exposure. Previous ESNS editions have featured emerging names such as Kaat Van Stralen, Dressed Like Boys, Maria Iskariot, Ão and DIKKE, demonstrating the strength of Belgium's new generation of musicians. With another group of Belgian artists preparing to take the stage in January 2027, Eurosonic offers an opportunity to discover the country's next international success stories.
At Belgium Music Agenda, we believe supporting Belgian music also means following its artists beyond national borders. Events such as Eurosonic provide a valuable opportunity to discover new talent, celebrate artistic creativity and highlight the growing international presence of Belgian musicians. And with more festival announcements expected, there may still be additional Belgian names joining the programme.
